DV Nutcracker gave rural residents access to a high quality ballet theater experience without having to travel to an urban centre. It brought community members of all ages together to create an awareness of performing arts and its importance, enhancing quality of life. We sold out three performances (220 seats each show) in less than two months! The event gave 68 local performers of all ages an opportunity to come together to showcase their talents and accomplishments as a dance community. There were also many economic benefits to local businesses, from lighting and sound companies to our local theatre, the Eleanor Pickup Arts Centre. The hospitality industry in our community also benefited (hotels and restaurants).
